Charted Accountancy Course at a Glance
Chartered Accountancy is a rewarding profession where one can practise on his/her own or can do job in various public and private sector companies. CA Course is conducted & regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) which is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949
CA Course Comprises of 3 Stages
STAGE-I: CA-Foundation – CA-Foundation is a gateway to the course of Chartered Accountancy. One can register with Board of Studies (BoS) while preparing for XII board examination & the candidate can appear in foundation exam after giving XII Board. CA Foundation exam is conducted twice in a year viz. June & December. It comprises of four subjects. These papers are a combination of objective & subjective type paper of 100 marks each. Minimum 40% marks in individual subjects & 50% in aggregate is required to clear the foundation stage.
STAGE-II: CA-Intermediate Professional Course (IPC) – After passing CA-Foundation exam, one needs to register for CA-Intermediate (IPC) and can appear in exams after the 9 months of registration. It comprises of 2 Groups with 8 subjects (Group-I: 4 subjects & Group-II: 4 subjects). Minimum 40% marks in individual subjects and 50% in aggregate is required to pass the exam. A graduate and post graduate student from commerce stream with 55% marks and non-commerce students with 60% marks can directly register in intermediate Course.
STAGE-III: CA-FINAL – After clearing Intermediate examination, students have to register for practical training of 3 years under any practising chartered accountant. Students can appear for the final exam after completing the training of 2.5 years. CA-Final is also conducted twice in a year (May & November). It comprises of 2 groups (each having 4 subjects). Minimum 40% marks in individual subjects and 50% in aggregate is required to pass the exam. After clearing the final examinations & completing the practical training the candidate is qualified to become member of ICAI.

Eligibility:
10+2 Pass (HSC) of any Steam either Regular or Distance Mode from the recognized by either State or Central Government Institution/Board.
Since 1st January 2021, even X Std. passed, XI Std. students also may register for CA Foundation; but, they can appear for the exam only after appearing in XII Board Exams or Passing the same.
Validity of Registration:
3 Years and can be renewed if required on expiry.

Type of Exam:
Paper 1 & 2 are Descriptive/Subjective and have No Negative Marks for any Wrong Answer. Paper 3 & 4 are Objective (MCQ) Types. All the 4 Papers are PEN & PAPER Mode and not the Computer Based Exam.
Passing Criteria:
40% in each Paper and 50% in aggregate.
Negative Marks:
Only in Paper 3 & 4; for each Wrong Answer, 0.25 Marks will be deducted from the total in the respective Paper.
Exemptions:
No Exemption of Papers available, if failed. All the Papers should be re-appeared in case of fail even in a single Paper.
Eligibility:
CA Foundation Pass / UG or PG in Commerce Stream with 55% aggregate of marks (excluding Language Papers) and Non-Commerce students with 60% of marks (excluding Language Papers) / CMA Inter Pass / CS Executive Pass.
Validity of Registration:
4 Years and can be renewed if required on expiry.

Only through Online and no Offline Mode is available.

Paper 8 : Financial Management & Economics for Finance (100 Marks)
Section A: Financial Management (60 Marks)
Section B: Economics for Finance (40 Marks)
Study Period:
Minimum 8 months for Foundation Mode students and minimum 9 months of article-ship Attendance for Graduate/Direct Entry students.
Type of Exam:
Papers 2 & 4 in Group-I and Papers 6 & 7 in Group-II are both Subjective/Descriptive and Objective (MCQ) Type Papers with 30:70 ratio of marks; 30% will be Objective/MCQ Type and 70% will be Descriptive Type Questions.
Remaining Papers are Descriptive/Subjective. There is No Negative Marks for any Paper in both the Groups in CA Inter.
Passing Criteria:
40% in each Paper and 50% aggregate in each Group if appeared for any One;
if appeared for both the Groups simultaneously, 40% in each Paper and 50% aggregate in Total Marks (400/800).
Negative Marks:
No Negative Marks in both Subjective and Objective Papers for Wrong Answers.
Exemptions:
Available for the Papers with 60% and above marks in any Group for 3 continuous attempts; if not cleared within 3 attempts, the students should clear all the Papers in the Particular Group in which they failed.
